TASCA AND THE MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM EXIT SONOMA IN THE SECOND ROUND

Sonoma, CA – July 26, 2009 – In one of the closest races of his career, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team fell three feet short in the second round.

After defeating Brian Thiel in the first round of NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing series in Sonoma, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team faced a familiar foe in the second round.

Tasca would race technical alliance teammate and Seattle race winner Tim Wilkerson. The two Mustangs left the line with nearly identical reaction times, the difference between them was 0.004 seconds, Wilkerson reached the 1000-ft marker 0.002 seconds before Tasca. The margin of victory was three feet.

“That race against Wilkerson was probably one of the closest races of the year,” said Tasca. “Unfortunately, we were on the wrong end of it.”

Tasca reached the second round in all three of the West Coast Swing races, something he was unable to do in his rookie season. In comparison, this three-race run was a personal victory for Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team.

“We qualified well and won a round in each of the races in Denver, Seattle and Sonoma,” said Tasca. “We went into the West Coast Swing sixth in points and we’re leaving the West Coast Swing in sixth. We’ll take that and move on to the next race. The Motorcraft/Quick Lane team gave me a Mustang that was quick and consistent.”

Tim Wilkerson, driver of the LRS Shelby Mustang won the 22nd Annual FRAM-Autolite NHRA Nationals in Sonoma.

“Congratulations to a true champion. Wilkerson can tune, crew and drive his Mustang. It’s hard to put in perspective how difficult that is. Tim has the ability to do that race in and race out. I’m proud to have him as a teammate. I’m glad to be in this championship fight with Tim alongside us.”

TASCA AND THE MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM TO START FIFTH IN SUNDAY’S NHRA RACE IN SONOMA

Sonoma, CA – July 25, 2009 – After posting the two fastest times during Saturday’s qualifying sessions, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang eagerly await race day on Sunday.

Out of the four qualifying sessions, Tasca’s best time took place on Friday afternoon when he piloted the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang to a 4.133 second run at a top speed of 300.13 miles per hour. This time seeded Tasca in the fifth position where he will face Brian Thiel in the first round on Sunday.

“Last night we ran good and finished the day as the No. 5 qualifier, but we missed it by a little bit,” said Tasca. “Then during Saturday’s sessions in the heat, we were the dominant race car. That Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang is the quickest race car in the country right now.”

Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team showed the packed house in Sonoma that they were a strong team and solid contenders for their second win of the 2009 season.

“We were real consistent and dominant in conditions that we’ll see on race day,” said Tasca. “To come out on Saturday and run as strong as we did in back-to-back sessions, we’re showing that this team is ready to take the competition on Sunday morning.”

In addition to keeping an eye on his race, Tasca will be watching the other pairings in the Funny Car class.

“There are some monster match-ups on the ladder this weekend,” said Tasca. “A lot of things play into the races. We hope to win a few more rounds this weekend and if we do, we’ll find ourselves locked-in the top-10.”

TASCA AND THE MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING HOPE TO TOAST WITH WALLY IN WINE COUNTRY

Set among the rolling hills of vineyards, once a year the delightful aroma of the vineyards is replaced with the powerful and intoxicating nitro methane. It must be time for NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing in Sonoma.

A connoisseur of all things Ford, Motorcraft, Quick Lane and racing, Bob Tasca III and the team seek to uncork their special vintage this week in the final race of the West Coast Swing.

With two round wins on this three-race run, Tasca looks for to capture four more round wins in Somona.

“Our goal for the West Coast Swing was to improve on our performance from last year and we’ve done that,” said Tasca. “Our mission is to get at least one trophy out of this West Coast Swing.”

The weather in Sonoma will be key to Tasca’s success. Crew chief Chris Cunnigham and Tasca know a few things about racing in the heat, both on the race track and in the points.

“You typically get great conditions to perform in at Sonoma if you know how to manage the track,” said Tasca. “We’ll see some of the hottest track conditions of the year this weekend. Our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang runs pretty incredible in the heat and we have a great shot for a win this weekend.”

Confidence plays a key role in the success of Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Mustang team. With four races remaining before the Countdown to 1, Tasca knows this is the critical segment of the season.

“We’re a team that believes that we can win. We’ve won, been to multiple semi-finals and finals,” said Tasca. “We know we have the equipment and the tools to get the job done. We believe if we get up to the plate enough times, we’re going to get our next win. This Motorcraft/Quick Lane team believes that we can compete for this championship.”

But at the end of the day, Tasca likes his wine just like his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Mustang – smooth, powerful and red.

ONE WILD RIDE FOR TASCA AND THE MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM IN SEATTLE

Kent, Washington – July 19, 2009 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft Quick Lane Shelby Mustang team headed into Sunday’s eliminations in Seattle in the number four spot with a hot Mustang that had proven quick from start line to finish line. During the first round eliminations, they didn’t know just how difficult that would be.

With the first hit of the gas, the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang had a connecting rod break, causing it to race violently across the starting line. Not seeing his opponent Jerry Toliver ahead of him, Tasca knew he had to do everything he could to get across the finish line first.

As Tasca continued down the track but the Mustang was getting worse and worse. The engine started to come apart and the motor blew just before the finish line. Luckily, Tasca was able to keep it together to defeat Toliver to advance to the second round against John Force.

A familiar foe, Tasca and Force have each won twice against the other in past events.

“We went into the second round against John and we knew we had a race car that could go down the track,” said Tasca. “We tried to duplicate our 4.22 pass from Friday when we ran in the heat, but we smoked the tires just around 300 feet. It wasn’t what we expected to do, it caught us by surprise including me in the car.”

Tasca is currently seventh in series standings with four races remaining before the Countdown to 1.

Tasca’s technical alliance teammate Tim Wilkerson had a big day in Seattle. After a rough race in Denver, Wilkerson defeated Tony Pedregon in the final round to win the 22nd Annual NHRA Nothwest Nationals at Pacific Racways in Kent, Morrison.

“Tim had a really great day. It was a great day for our team,” said Tasca. “We’re really proud of our alliance with Tim Wilkerson Racing and it’s always great to see a Ford in the winner’s circle.”

Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang team return to the track on Friday, July 24, for the FRAM Autolite NHRA Nationals in Sonoma, California.

TASCA AND THE MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM EXPECT SOLID ROUNDS IN SEATTLE

To improve the future, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang team study the past. One year ago, with just over a dozen races under his belt, Tasca and the team qualified 13th and lost in the first round at the northwestern track. The team reviewed the 2008 data, compared their performance from 2009 and set a plan in motion for this weekend’s race in Emerald City.

“I’m looking forward to Seattle and getting back to sea level because we’re getting back to a tune up that we’ve been very successful with this year,” said Tasca. “Seattle is a race that I want a little personal redemption. The first round last year wasn’t one of my shining moments.”

During the 2008 season, Tasca achieved eight round wins and 22 losses. Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang team failed to advance to the second round during last year’s West Coast Swing. This season, Tasca achieved one round win in Denver bringing his year to date round win total to 15 round wins and 12 losses.

“Last year, we did not win a round on the West Coast Swing. We’re already one up from where we were last year, so we’re showing improvement,” said Tasca. “We’re off to a decent start leaving Denver. A round win is better than no round wins, but we want to dramatically improve. We’re happy to have won a round in Denver, but we plan to take Seattle by storm.”

Eager to get that second career win, Tasca and the team have assembled a consistent Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby for all track conditions. Now with 37 races under his belt, Tasca is focused on round wins, his second Wally and a place in the Countdown to 1.

“We’re going to get back to Seattle and put ourselves in a position to win, something we’ve done consistently each race this season,” said Tasca. “We’re at a point in the season where drivers can lock themselves into the championship run and we want to be one of those cars. We’re looking to go rounds and avoid first round losses. Seattle is a race where we need to compete and we have a lot of expectations to do well.”

TASCA AND THE MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM LEAVE DENVER IN THE SECOND ROUND

Morrison, CO – July 13, 2009 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Team were confident heading into the Mile High city this weekend. Fresh off of two semi-final appearances and solid data from 2008, Tasca and the team were eager to start the West Coast Swing on a high note.

Tasca was locked into the field Saturday afternoon with a 4.27 second run at 294.05 miles per hour. Tasca’s time would place him in the 12th position for Sunday’s elimination rounds.
During first round eliminations, Tasca faced technical alliance teammate Tim Wilkerson. It was the sixth time the pair would meet. Wilkerson was quick off the line but Tasca would catch him by the 660-foot marker and win the round. Tasca would then face Jack Beckman in the second round.

Hoping to have a different result from Norwalk, Tasca was the first off the line, but Beckman was able to catch the Mustang Shelby by the 330-foot marker. Beckman defeated Tasca by 0.0773 seconds, approximately 33 feet.

Tasca remains sixth in series standings with five races remaining before the Countdown to 1.

TASCA AND THE MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM SET MILE-HIGH GOALS FOR DENVER AND THE WEST COAST SWING

As the second half of the regular season swings into high gear, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team study a history lesson from just one year ago. Focused and determined, the driver and crew of the red and black 300-mile per hour machine look to reclaim what was missing from their last appearance in the Mile High City.

“We want to pick up where we left off because we qualified sixth and raced the wrong guy in Denver,” said Tasca. “We would have beaten a lot of the other drivers and unfortunately, we raced Ron Capps and left earlier than we expected.”

Determined not to repeat the result of last year’s race in Denver, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team circled the Denver race date and eagerly awaited their second meeting with the western swing cities.

“The Motorcraft/Quick Lane team and I have put a stake in the ground for this West Coast Swing. We’re going to make it a point to do great this year,” said Tasca. “We’re going into this key stretch of races knowing that we need to perform well to put ourselves in a strong position for the Countdown to 1.”

Having spent the entire 2009 season among the series points leaders, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team have taken the proverbial step forward in their second season in the NHRA’s Drag Racing Full Throttle Funny Car Series.

“The Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang and the driver of that hot rod are both light years ahead of where we were last year,” said a confident Tasca. “Our success has to a lot to do with the alliance with Wilkerson and having a couple hundred runs in the Fuel Funny Car. Those are all things that are playing to our advantage. We’re a dangerous team. There are not too many guys out there that look forward to racing that Motorcraft/Quick Lane Mustang right now.”

2nd Annual Funny Car Design Contest
Now through August 14, the public is invited to visit www.jdrf.org/ford, view more than 200 paint scheme designs and vote for their favorite children’s design by making a monetary donation to JDRF, all as part of Ford Customer Service Division’s second annual Funny Car Design Contest.

The top five donation-earning designs will go in front of a panel of judges and narrowed down to one. The winning design will be featured on Motorcraft/Quick Lane sponsored Mustang Shelby driven by Bob Tasca III during the NHRA Carolinas Nationals in Concord, NC, on Sept. 18-20.

Online Voting Begins for Ford Customer Service Division’s Second Annual Funny Car Design Contest to Support Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ONLINE VOTING BEGINS FOR FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DIVISION'S SECOND ANNUAL FUNNY CAR DESIGN CONTEST TO SUPPORT JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION

· Voting for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) design that will be featured on the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang Funny Car begins Thursday, July 2, and is open until Friday, August 14.

· The public is invited to visit www.jdrf.org/ford to make a donation for their favorite car design. The top five donation-earning designs will be judged and narrowed down to one. The winning design will be featured at the NHRA Carolinas Nationals in Concord, NC on September 18.

DEARBORN, Mich., July 2, 2009 – It’s okay to vote early and vote often… at least when the voting helps out a good cause.

Starting today, and running through August 14, the public is invited to visit www.jdrf.org/ford, view more than 200 paint scheme designs and vote for their favorite children’s design by making a monetary donation to JDRF, all as part of Ford Customer Service Division’s second annual Funny Car Design Contest.

For the past month, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) children have taken their crayons, markers and paintbrushes to a blank canvas in the shape of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang Funny Car. Their goal – see their design come to life on Tasca’s Shelby Mustang Nitro funny car in September.

“We had some amazing designs last year and I think the JDRF children have really raised the bar for this year’s contest,” said Darryl Hazel, Ford Customer Service Division president. “All of us at Ford are really excited for this year’s program and are ready to go online to vote. We are honored to have this partnership with JDRF to help them raise awareness and a cure for Type 1 diabetes.”

The winning designer will be selected on August 17, 2009. They will be invited to the NHRA Carolinas Nationals in Concord, NC, with his or her parents for an official unveiling of their paint scheme, and a chance to spend time with the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team and see their design run during qualifying sessions for the race.

Last year’s winner was Samuel Millard, a six-year-old resident of Greenville, Texas, and member of the Greater Dallas Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Millard and his family were special guests at the NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis where his design appeared on Tasca’s Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car. Last year’s contest drew 306 designs and help raise awareness and more than $84,000 for JDRF.

Diabetes affects more Ford families than any other disease. Ford Motor Company has raised more than $27 million for JDRF since the grassroots campaign started in 1998.

About Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease, which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.

Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.3 billion to diabetes research, including more than $156 million in FY2008. In FY2008, the Foundation funded 1,000 centers, grants and fellowships in 22 countries. http://www.jdrf.org/
