TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM WIN READING

· Tasca won Sunday’s 25th Annual Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals, Funny Car class.
· This is Tasca’s second career Funny Car win.
· Tasca moves to fourth in series points, 284 points behind leader Tony Pedregon.
· Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team secured their place in the 2009 NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Countdown to 1.

READING, PA – August 23, 2009 – After three rainy days, one solid qualifying pass, and four rounds of racing, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team celebrate with their second win of the season.

“My Motorcraft/Quick Lane team worked all night to get this Mustang right for Sunday morning,” said Tasca. “We beat Ron Capps and Robert Hight in the first two rounds. Then we had a massive engine failure against John Force. We took our Mustang back to the pits and Chris Cunningham, Marc Denner and the guys did an amazing job rebuilding it so we could win in the final round.”

Similar to his win in Gainesville, Tasca went round for round with some of the series best en route to his second career win. Tasca defeated Ron Capps in the first round followed by a fierce trio of John Force Racing drivers. Tasca defeated Robert Hight in the second round, John Force in the third and Mike Neff in the finals.

“The more experience we get as a team, the more focused and determined we are to win,” said Tasca. “The more you have these moments to succeed, you’ve got to go after them because you don’t get chances like this every day. I’m just so proud of my team, the guys, Motorcraft. Quick Lane, Ford.”

Despite the challenges they faced this weekend, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team had their checklist and completed all three tasks this weekend – clinch a spot in the Countdown to 1, move up the points ladder and win.

“As I said from the beginning, we didn’t want to just get into the top 10 because we wanted to solidly be there,” said Tasca. “This win is a tribute to my guys and what they fought through this weekend. We’re leaving Reading with the trophy. We’re leaving Reading sitting fourth in the points and most importantly we’re leaving Reading knowing we’re going to be in this championship run.”

After Saturday’s explosion, Tasca and team tipped their hat to Ford Racing and their safety innovations over the last several years.

“Saturday night’s explosion was the worst I’ve ever been in,” said Tasca. “I’m very fortunate that the safety technology that Ford developed and installed on the race cars worked. The fuel pumps shut off, the parachutes went out and I didn’t get hurt.”

Tasca secured his spot in the Countdown for 1 after defeating Ron Capps in the first round.

Tasca and Motorcraft/Quick Lane Team Clinch Sixth Spot in NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Countdown To 1.

DEARBORN, Mich., August 23, 2009 – In March 2009, Bob Tasca III captured his first win with sponsors Motorcraft and Quick Lane. A short five months later, Tasca secured a spot in the 2009 Countdown to 1.

Two years and 42 races after Tasca secured sponsorship with Motorcraft/Quick Lane, he will compete for his first NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series Funny Car championship after clinching the sixth spot this weekend in Reading after defeating Ron Capps in the first round.

“Congratulations to Bob and the entire Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team on securing a spot in the Countdown to 1,” said Brett Wheatley, Director of Marketing, and Ford Customer Service Division. “Bob and the team have worked extremely hard this year and deserve this spot in the championship run. Bob’s performance both on and off the track has made all of us at Ford proud. We’re looking forward to seeing that Mustang win rounds and, hopefully, the championship over the next few months.”

Tasca and the team were determined to make the Countdown this season. In the first 17 races this season, Tasca earned 19 round wins, his first No. 1 Qualifier and first career Funny Car win.

“Our goal at the start of this program was to win a championship. That’s why we do what we do,” said Tasca. “We dedicated time and resources to compete for the championship and we’ve done what needs to be done to win. Last year, I missed the Countdown by one slot, certainly it was a heartbreaking way to end our first season. To lock in the Countdown in the sixth position speaks volumes to the hard work and dedication that everybody on the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team has put into the program this year.”

The Countdown to 1 begins at the Second Annual NHRA Carolina Nationals in Concord, NC, the weekend of September 17-20.

“You have to put yourself in the position to win. No one can guarantee a championship. No one can guarantee a win,” said Tasca. “You have to put yourself in the position to win and by locking into the top 10 we’ve done that for Ford, Motorcraft and Quick Lane. We’ve put our team, our sponsors and fans in the position to win and that’s what we intend to do.”

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM TO START FIFTH IN READING

READING, PA – August 22, 2009 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing look forward to Sunday morning after experience two challenging and rain filled days in Reading.

Eager to be back on the track, Tasca’s first run of the weekend was smooth and strong. After Friday’s lone qualifying session, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team sat comfortably in the third position in hopes of improving on Saturday.

In what would be a repeat weather performance of Friday, Funny Cars would take to the track for their single pass of the day. Tasca was confident his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang could improve on Friday’s effort. Tasca reached the 660-foot marker and experienced a blown supercharger.

“We’re still a little unclear with what happened in the second run,” said Tasca.
“We believe it was a valve train failure that caused the massive explosion. It destroyed the supercharger and it knocked a port out of the cylinder head along with the manifold. There was a big flash fire, which did go out. The oil did not catch on fire; it was more of a fuel fire that was in the manifold.”

It would be a long Saturday night and early Sunday morning for Tasca and the team.

"Other than causing a lot of work for this Motorcraft/Quick Lane team, we’ll be ready for tomorrow,” said Tasca. “We’re going to work through the night to make sure our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang is race ready for Sunday.”

Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team will rely on Friday’s 4.138 second run at 299.26 miles per hour to develop Sunday’s race strategy.

“Chris Cunningham, Marc Denner and the guys made a really great call on Friday in the heat,” said Tasca. “I’m disappointed in today, not in the explosion, but we would have liked to have had a second run. This has been a very challenging weekend because we never really had the chance to hit our stride.”

Tasca is seeded fifth and will face Ron Capps in the opening round.

“You race the race, regardless of who is in the next lane,” said Tasca. “We’ve got a formidable competitor in the other lane, but at the same time, he has a formidable competitor. We’re looking forward to going a couple of rounds on Sunday.”

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM DETERMINED TO MAKE NEW MEMORIES AT READING

DEARBORN, MI – August 19, 2009 – Bob Tasca III brings the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team with him to a memorable place. Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, PA, was where Tasca climbed into a professional race car for the very first time.

Tasca is quite familiar with Maple Grove Raceway after his runner-up Top Alcohol Funny Car finish in 2006. Three years later, Tasca hopes to mirror that performance but walk away with the trophy.

“Reading is a special place for me and it always will be,” said Tasca. “Reading is the site where I first hit the gas in a my Top Alcohol Funny Car. I’m really excited to get back there.”

Currently in sixth place in the NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car point standings, Tasca and his team are focused on one goal, and one goal only: being a championship contender.

“This is a pivotal point of the season for us,” said Tasca. “We’re not so much trying to make the top 10, but really focusing on positioning ourselves to make a strong run for this championship. I’m thrilled to be in this spot, literally less than two years from when we started this program. I’m feeling pretty good right now.”

Although Tasca considers Englishtown is home track, Reading, is not too far away. Tasca heads to Pennsylvania hoping to recapture the magic he had back at his home track earlier in the season.

“There will be a lot of Rhode Islanders in Reading,” said Tasca. “We did really well in Englishtown getting to the semi-finals. We have our sights set on picking up another win before the Countdown to 1 starts. We’ll definitely have some hometown people at Reading.”

Ford Customer Service Division Announces Finalists in the Second Annual Funny Car Design Contest to Support JDRF

FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DIVISION ANNOUNCES FINALISTS IN THE SECOND ANNUAL FUNNY CAR DESIGN CONTEST TO SUPPORT JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION (JDRF)

DEARBORN, Mich., August 18, 2009 – Five finalists have been chosen from more than 300 designs submitted this summer by JDRF children with type 1 diabetes, as part of a charity contest to design the paint scheme for the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car driven by Bob Tasca III.

Voting ended on Friday, August 14, and the top five donation-earning designs are in front of a panel of Ford judges for final selection. The winning design will be featured on Motorcraft/Quick Lane Mustang Shelby during the NHRA Carolinas Nationals in Concord, NC, on September 18-20.

“Any of the top five designs will look great on the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Mustang, and that will make selecting one very difficult,” said Brett Wheatley, Director of Marketing, Ford Customer Service Division. “The goal of the Funny Car Design Contest was to help raise awareness for JDRF. I think we accomplished our goal because our generous race fans donated more than $39,000.”

The winning designer will be invited to the NHRA Carolinas Nationals in Concord, NC, with his or her parents for an official unveiling of their paint scheme, spend time with the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team and see their design run during qualifying sessions for the race.

The Second Annual Funny Car Design contest raised $39,542.59.

About Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease, which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.

Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.3 billion to diabetes research, including more than $156 million in FY2008. In FY2008, the Foundation funded 1,000 centers, grants and fellowships in 22 countries. http://www.jdrf.org/

Diabetes affects more Ford families than any other disease. Ford Motor Company has raised more than $27 million for JDRF since the grassroots campaign started in 1998.

SHORT SUNDAY AFTER STRONG START FOR TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM IN BRAINERD

BRAINERD, MN – August 16, 2009 – Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team entered Brainerd with power and determination. They proved their focus on Friday after posting the fastest times in both of Friday’s qualifying rounds.

Weather played a key factor on Saturday and rain forced a temporary hold on the competition and ultimately cancelled the fourth and final qualifying session. Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane team would use their best qualifying effort of a 4.200 second run at 292.71 miles per hour. Tasca and team were looking forward to that final session to improve that time but settled with the seventh place qualifying effort.

Evening rain showers and early morning drizzle delayed the start of Sunday’s elimination rounds. In the first round, Tasca faced 1985 Brainerd race winner Jim Head. It was the fourth meeting of the pair and Tasca wanted to even the score. Both drivers had traction issues but Tasca was able to keep the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang in front of Head and advance.

“We had a big first round win,” said Tasca. “The Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang went out a shook the tires, so I pedaled it. When the tires shook a bracket broke and the fire bottle sprayed me through the run.”

Tasca faced Ron Capps in the second round. Tasca has a 0-5 record against Capps and was determined to score that first win. Tasca fell short to Capps by approximately 18 feet.

“Capps and I had almost identical reaction times, but he had a little more in it,” said Tasca. “It was a tight race and we were on the wrong end of it.”

Tasca remains sixth in NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Funny Car standings.

“We’ve won at least one round in the last eight races,” said Tasca. “We’re doing what it takes to secure a position in the Countdown to 1. We’re qualifying and running well. We’re losing some races but by close margins. It is only a matter of time and races like today will go your way.”

NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing will return to the track on Friday, August 21, at Maple Grove Raceway in Reading, PA.

“I’m looking forward to Reading and glad it is only a few days away,” said Tasca. “We’ve got some solid momentum going into the next race. Reading is where I hit the gas for the first time in a professional race car, so I’m excited to get back there.”
Tony Pedregon won Sunday’s 28th Annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals at Brainerd International Raceway.

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE TEAM SHOW BRAINERD THEY MEAN BUSINESS WITH PROVISIONAL NO. 1 QUALIFYING EFFORT

Brainerd, MN – August 14, 2009 – On a hot, humid Friday afternoon, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang team topped the charts in the opening qualifying sessions.

In his second provisional qualifying effort of the year, Tasca and the team dominated the race track. Tasca was provisional No. 1 qualifier earlier this year at Gainesville.

After watching several Funny Cars before him smoke the tires, Tasca knew he had a challenge in front of him. He mastered the new pavement by posting 4.363 second run at 274.16 miles per hour.

“We were the only team out of 19 that went wire-to-wire in the first round,” said Tasca. “It was a great run. We’ll do even better tomorrow because the conditions will improve. We can’t be any better than we are right now.”

After some fine-tuning by crew chief Chris Cunningham, Tasca wowed the Brainerd crowd for the second time today with a 4.214 second pass at 282.01 miles per hour.

“What a difference a year makes,” said Tasca. “To be in this position and to have a hot rod that is doing exactly what we want. When our Mustang is responding and is consistent, it makes me a better race car driver and it puts the team in a position to win. To have two back-to-back runs like that, my hat is off to the guys, Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner for making a remarkable call today.”

With only a few races remaining before the Countdown to 1 begins, Tasca gains more confidence every time he climbs into the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang.

“We’re hitting our stride at the right time,” said Tasca. “We’ve got a long way to go with this championship, but if we can perform well in Brainerd, we will solidify our position in the championship hunt.”

Wet Paint! Bill Elliott and the No. 21 Ford Fusion to Feature Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center Paint Scheme at Michigan International Speedway

DEARBORN, Mich., August 12, 2009 – America’s fastest growing auto service brand teams up with NASCAR’s 16-time, fan-voted Most Popular Driver at this weekend’s NASCAR Sprint Cup race at Michigan International Speedway.

The Wood Brothers Racing No. 21 Ford Fusion driven by Bill Elliott will switch from its normal red Motorcraft paint scheme and feature the blue, white and orange colors of Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center.

“We are excited to have Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center sponsor the No. 21 Ford Fusion, especially since Michigan International Speedway is the home track of both Quick Lane and Ford,” said Tom Suttles, Quick Lane Business Manager. “This is a fantastic opportunity for us to showcase our partnership with Motorcraft. Quick Lane and Motorcraft form the perfect combination of fast, convenient service and the highest quality parts.”

In addition to being the primary sponsor of Bill Elliott’s Fusion this weekend, fans can see the No. 21 Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center Ford Fusion at 12 Metro Detroit locations this week.

Bill Elliott will be signing autographs at the Quick Lane at Varsity Lincoln Mercury in Novi and the Quick Lane at Hines Park Ford in New Hudson on Thursday, August 13.

“We really enjoy working with Bill Elliott and the Wood Brothers and hope to show how life is better – and faster – in the Quick Lane,” added Suttles.

Ford Customer Service Division brands of Motorcraft and Quick Lane are primary sponsors on the Wood Brothers No. 21 NASCAR Sprint Cup Ford Fusion for 12 races this season, which began in February at the Daytona 500 and will culminate with the season-ending Ford 400 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

The Wood Brothers are acknowledged pioneers in the sport of stock-car racing, and have earned 96 wins in over 50 years of NASCAR competition – second most in Ford Racing history.

Elliott has won 44 NASCAR Cup races, the 1989 NASCAR Cup championship, and is a seven-time winner at Michigan International Speedway.

The red and black Motorcraft logo appears on the No. 21 Ford Fusion in NASCAR, while two of Ford's brands - Motorcraft and Quick Lane - adorn the Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car of Bob Tasca III, winner of the 2009 Gainesville Gatornationals.

COUNTDOWN HOPES ALIVE AND WELL AS TASCA AND THE MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM HEAD TO BRAINERD

DEARBORN, MI – August 11, 2009 – After a few weeks away from the drag strip, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team return to Brainerd for the 28th Annual Lucas Oil NHRA Nationals with hopes of moving up the points ladder, clinching a spot in the crucial Countdown, and bringing home another Wally.

With only three races left until the start of the Countdown, Tasca feels confident in his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang and team.

“We feel a win is just around the corner for us,” said Tasca. “We’ve been very competitive. We made it to the finals in Norwalk, reached the quarterfinals three times in a row, and lost in Sonoma by an eyelash, but we had Mustang that could win the race. That is such a confidence booster for everybody on the team to know rolling into every race with a Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang that can win.”

Last year Tasca qualified 13th in Brainerd and lost in the second round to Tim Wilkerson. This year, Tasca is eager to race in Brainerd and considers the new surface a learning opportunity.

“Brainerd is race track that poses its challenges,” said Tasca. “It’s a brand new track surface, which was has just been paved, similar to Norwalk, and we all remember how difficult it was to race in Norwalk.”

In Sonoma, Funny Car drivers Tony Pedregon, Ron Capps and Ashley Force Hood secure their spots in the Countdown. This weekend in Brainerd, Tasca, currently in sixth place, hopes to do the same.

“If we win one round in Brainerd, we’re locked in to the Countdown, but it’s not about getting locked in this weekend,” said Tasca. “I want to finish this two-race stretch strong. Our focus is to move up the ladder. We’re not resting on our laurels. Last year at this time, our Championship hopes were over. This year, our Championship hopes are alive and well, but its just not about making the top 10, it’s about solidly placing in the top 10 and to get every point we can.”

Second Annual Funny Car Design Comes to a Close
Now through August 14, the public is invited to visit www.jdrf.org/ford, view more than 300 paint scheme designs and vote for their favorite children’s design by making a monetary donation to JDRF, all as part of Ford Customer Service Division’s second annual Funny Car Design Contest.

The top five donation-earning designs will go in front of a panel of judges and narrowed down to one. The winning design will be featured on Motorcraft/Quick Lane sponsored Mustang Shelby driven by Bob Tasca III during the NHRA Carolinas Nationals in Concord, NC, on Sept. 18-20.

SECOND ANNUAL FUNNY CAR DESIGN CONTEST IN SUPPORT OF JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ONE WEEK REMAINING TO VOTE ONLINE FOR FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DIVISION'S SECOND ANNUAL FUNNY CAR DESIGN CONTEST IN SUPPORT OF JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION

DEARBORN, Mich., August 4, 2009 – Auto racing’s version of “Decision 2009” is in full swing, but the polls will close soon for the Ford Customer Service Division’s Second Annual Funny Car Design Contest to Support Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).

The candidates - in this case, JDRF kids - are campaigning for your vote in the final week to be featured on the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang driven by Bob Tasca III. The Funny Car Design Contest voting started on July 2, and runs through August 14, 2009.

Until August 14, the public is invited to visit www.jdrf.org/ford, view more than 300 paint scheme designs, and vote for their favorite children’s design by making a monetary donation to JDRF.

Earlier this summer, Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) children took their crayons, markers and paintbrushes to a blank canvas in the shape of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang Funny Car. Their goal – see their design come to life on Tasca’s Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car in September.

“We’re eager to see which designs the public vote in as their top-five favorites,” said Brett Wheatley, Director of Marketing, Ford Customer Service Division. “It will be difficult to select a winner because all of the designs are terrific. I’m pleased that we are participating in the program for a second year and helping raise awareness and hopefully a cure for Type 1 diabetes.”

The winning designer will be selected on August 17, 2009. They will be invited to the NHRA Carolinas Nationals in Concord, NC, with his or her parents for an official unveiling of their paint scheme, and a chance to spend time with the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team and see their design run during qualifying sessions for the race.

Last year’s winner was Samuel Millard, a six-year-old resident of Greenville, Texas, and member of the Greater Dallas Chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Millard and his family were special guests at the NHRA U.S. Nationals in Indianapolis where his design appeared on Tasca’s Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car. Last year’s contest drew 306 designs and raised more than $84,000 for JDRF.

Diabetes affects more Ford families than any other disease. Ford Motor Company has raised more than $27 million for JDRF since the grassroots campaign started in 1998.
