TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING EXIT NORWALK IN FIRST ROUND

DEARBORN, MI – June 27, 2010 – Last year at the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team had a rollercoaster of a weekend and ultimately finished as runner-up. Tasca and the team were looking for a smoother race this year. Unfortunately, they rode a different rollercoaster and their weekend ended in a first round loss.

In the opening qualifying session, a broken push rod in Tasca’s race machine prevented him from making a pass. Crew chiefs Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner decided to shut the Mustang down in the staging lanes to prevent additional damage. Upon vehicle inspection in the pits, the team confirmed the broken push rod diagnosis.

“It was a disappointing weekend,” said Tasca. “When you compare this weekend to our last several weekends, with two semi-final appearances and a win, obviously your expectation level is raised. We had a weird weekend here in Norwalk.”

During the second qualifying session, while in the right lane, Tasca posted the seventh quickest time overall with a 4.110 second pass at 304.46 miles per hour. A piston broke during that pass, but Tasca was confident the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang would have made a stronger run.

In Saturday’s early qualifying session, Tasca and the team smoked the tires and did not improve their position. Several Funny Cars made their final qualifying passes on Saturday before rain halted racing for the afternoon. Tasca was the next car staged to run when NHRA officials cancelled the final qualifying session of the day.

“We wished we would have had at least one of the two runs that we lost Friday and Saturday, just to get another shot at the track to get ready for Sunday,” said Tasca.

Tasca would seed in the seventh position with only two runs down the drag strip for the weekend. In the first elimination round, Tasca would face fellow Ford driver Tim Wilkerson.

Tasca selected the left lane for the opening run against Wilkerson. Tasca smoked the tires and tried to recover but it was too late. Wilkerson’s margin of victory was more than 100 feet. Tasca’s Mustang reached the finish line in 4.844 seconds at 173.87 miles per hour compared to Wilkerson’s 4.208 second pass at 297.61 miles per hour.

“We put a tune-up in the race car to run a 4.18 or 4.19,” said Tasca. “That’s what we were trying to do and that’s what the Mustang was on its way to do. When you make a decision and the car does what you tell it to do, then it smokes the tires, to a certain extent, you’ve got to chalk it up to Nitro Funny Car racing. There is a certain element of unpredictability that happens in this sport and unfortunately we were on the wrong end of it this time.”

Despite this first round loss, Tasca is satisfied with his performance during the June four-in-a-row races. Since Joliet, Tasca has seven round wins, three round losses, one win and one semi-final appearance. After 13 races this season, Tasca’s 2010 record includes 17 round win and 12 round losses.

“This team has a lot of confidence; clearly we’re disappointed to go out in the first round for the first time in a while and the first time ever with this BOSS 500 engine,” said Tasca. “When you’ve been to multiple semi-finals and have a win in the last couple of races, you expect more and it just wasn’t in the cards for us. This won’t affect us at all as we look forward to the West Coast Swing. When you have a race car running like our race car is running, we’ll just put this race behind us and move on down the road.”

The series takes one week off and returns to action on July 9 at the NHRA Northwest Nationals in Seattle, Washington.

Tim Wilkerson won the Fourth Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals.

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING REACH SEMI-FINALS AT BRISTOL

BRISTOL, TN – June 20, 2010 – Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane looked to continue their hot streak from Englishtown to Bristol. Unfortunately that streak was spoiled with a semi-final loss to John Force.

Tasca’s best qualifying effort of the weekend came during Saturday’s early session. In the heat of the day, Tasca took his Shelby Mustang to the 1000 foot marker in 4.228 seconds at a top speed of 289.07 miles per hour. This effort would seed Tasca in the seventh position for Sunday’s eliminations.

In his first round pairing, Tasca defeated former Bristol race winner Ron Capps. The two drivers had close reaction times, but Tasca took the lead at the 660 foot marker and reached the finish line approximately 27 feet ahead of Capps. Tasca ran a 4.236 second pass at 292.65 miles per hour compared to Capps’ 4.299 second run at 277.77 miles per hour.

During the second round, Tasca faced Tony Pedregon. Tasca defeated Pedregon in the second round at Atlanta and was looking for the same result in Bristol. Pedregon smoked the tires while Tasca had a clean run to the finish. Tasca’s Shelby Mustang reached the finish line in 4.336 seconds at 280.60 miles per hour against Pedregon’s 5.712 second run at 127.04 miles per hour.

Making his sixth career appearance in the semi-finals, Tasca faced fellow Mustang driver John Force. Tasca had the starting line advantage but smoked the tires around 400 feet. Force crossed the finish line ahead of Tasca by more than 100 feet. Tasca’s pass was 4.284 seconds at 190.32 miles per hour compared to Force’s 4.284 second pass at 292.71 miles per hour.

John Force defeated Tim Wilkerson to win Sunday’s NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals.

HOT OFF FIRST WIN OF SEASON, TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM TAKE FORD BOSS 500 TO BRISTOL; LOOKING TO KEEP MOMENTUM

DEARBORN, MI – June 15, 2010 – On Monday, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team took their FordParts.com Shelby Mustang Funny Car to the Winner’s Circle for the first time this season. Fresh off that victory, the team heads to Bristol Dragway for the NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals, looking for a repeat performance this weekend.

“We’re going to go into Bristol with a race-winning set-up,” said Tasca. “Bristol is an exciting place to race and I can’t wait to get there. We will be able to carry our Englishtown momentum with us this weekend.”

Tasca is very confident in the performance of his Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car, especially after winning this past weekend in Englishtown with the completed BOSS 500 engine.

“We had two test runs with the BOSS 500 the Monday after Chicago and we went into Englishtown knowing the stakes were high,” said Tasca. “Some say every weekend is the same, but the stakes were high for us in Englishtown and we delivered. Heading home from the Chicago test, we were confident in the changes we made to the engine. Then to win in Englishtown, that just cemented our feeling of how powerful that BOSS 500 engine package performs on race day.”

In the past two seasons, Tasca has yet to reach the second round at Bristol Dragway. That is something that he’s looking to change this weekend.

“We’re going to fix that [first round exit] this year,” said Tasca. “That’s definitely on our to-do list. When you look at the races that you would like to have in your portfolio of wins, Bristol is right up there. It’s a historic race. It’s a place where my grandfather raced. I like going into the timing tower because there is a picture of my grandfather leaving the starting line.”

DRESSED IN BLUE, TASCA TAKES FORDPARTS.COM SHELBY MUSTANG TO VICTORY IN ENGLISHTOWN
- Bob Tasca III won the 41st Annual NHRA SuperNationals, Funny Car class.
- This is Tasca’s first win of the 2010 season and third career NHRA Funny Car win.
- Tasca’s Shelby Mustang Funny Car featured the FordParts.com paint scheme this weekend.
- This is the first win with FordParts.com as a primary sponsor.
- This is also Tasca’s first win with the Ford BOSS 500 Funny Car engine.
- Tasca also won at Englishtown in 2007 in the Alcohol Funny Car Class.

Englishtown, NJ – June 14, 2010 – It was going to take more than a little rain to keep Bob Tasca III and the FordParts.com team from victory.
After rain postponed Sunday’s final round of the NHRA Supernationals, Tasca captured his third career Funny Car win and first at Englishtown on Monday morning.
“I love my red Mustang but after a weekend like this I don’t know if I want to go back to red; I might keep it blue,” said Tasca. “FordParts.com is a great initiative by Ford Motor Company. If you haven’t seen it, you really have to check it out because it really is best-in-class. This is real exciting. The sponsors invest in us to win -- that’s why we’re out here. My grandfather coined the phrase ‘Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday’ and we win. We’ve won in dominant fashion and now we can be on that list of Fords that have won this year.”
Tasca defeated some of the series’ best drivers en route to this east coast victory. As the all-Ford kid driving the all-Ford hot rod, Tasca defeated fellow Ford Mustang drivers Ashley Force Hood and John Force, as well as the Dodge Charger of Matt Hagan and the Toyota Solara of Del Worsham.
The Tasca family and Bob Tasca III have a long history at Old Bridge Township Raceway Park. Tasca remembers watching John Force and Bob Glidden race here years ago while growing up. Then, as a professional racer, Tasca earned his first Alcohol Funny Car win at Englishtown in 2007, topping that performance today with his first Englishtown win in a Nitro Funny Car.
“It’s hard to put words together right now,” said Tasca. “This [Englishtown] is a special place for my family and grandfather. To win with all of my family here, what can I say? It’s just unbelievable. I can’t thank Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner and my guys enough. I’ve thrown so much at them with this Ford tune-up [BOSS 500] and it’s just been incredible. A lot of thanks goes out to the [John] Force camp because when we announced this ‘One Ford’ approach it could have gone either way. It is one Ford team and we share a lot of resources to make these Fords as dominant as they are, but this is a moment that I will cherish forever. This was the place where I first won in my Alcohol Funny Car and there’s just magic about this place for me. I know my grandfather isn’t here, but he’s looking down from above. It’s just a really cool, really cool moment.”
After four rounds of qualifying, Tasca was seeded in the seventh position. His best qualifying effort came on Friday evening when the track and air temperatures were cooler. Tasca raced his FordParts.com Shelby Mustang down the track in 4.121 seconds at 305.91 miles per hour.
In the opening round, Tasca defeated Ashley Force Hood with a 4.162 second pass at 303.71 miles per hour. Although Force Hood was first off the line, Tasca took the lead by the 330-foot marker and earned the win. Force Hood raced her Mustang to the line in 4.515 seconds at 266.06 miles per hour. Tasca ran low ET and top speed of the first round giving him lane choice in the second round.
During the second round, Tasca defeated 14-time champ and No. 2 qualifier John Force. Despite being first out of the gate, Force smoked the tires at 300 feet while Tasca made a clean pass to the finish line. The FordParts.com Mustang would post low ET and top speed of the second round, reaching the 1000-foot mark in 4.175 seconds at 300.93 miles per hour, compared to Force’s 4.458 second run at 249.03 miles per hour.
In the semifinal pairing, Tasca faced Matt Hagan, a two-time winner this season. Hagan held the advantage at the starting line but Tasca powered by Hagan to advance to the final round for the fifth time in his career. Tasca’s margin of victory was 0.0032 seconds, approximately 17 inches. Tasca was the fastest ET of the semifinals with a 4.154 second pass at 302.89 miles per hour.
On Monday morning, Tasca pulled his Funny Car into the staging lanes. Tasca was first off the line and reached the finish line in 4.107 seconds. Initially, the timing showed Worsham as the winner, but the run data showed Tasca crossed the 1000-foot line first. Worsham crossed the finish line in 4.177 seconds.
“I got out [of the car] and they pushed me to the right lane and I didn’t see the win light and I looked out and Del [Worsham] was right on my bumper,” explained Tasca. “My guys did their job and I knew I was on time, I just didn’t know it was as good as it was. I gave Del the thumbs up and said good job. I was walking back with my head hung down and the camera people came up and they said ‘You won!’ I don’t know what was on my face but they said my facial expression went crazy. You’re so emotional and I think that’s what makes me do what I do. I bottle it up and I use this energy and then when the race is over, what I can tell you? It’s an amazing feeling.”
This victory marks Tasca’s first win running the completed BOSS 500 engine program. Tasca and the team installed the final elements of the Ford Racing and John Force Racing-developed Funny Car engine program just before this event.
“Talk about the magic of the all-Ford kid in the all-Ford hot rod with the all-Ford engine,” said Tasca. “This is a pretty magical moment. We’ve had two runs with this motor [BOSS 500] in Chicago on Monday. We were on a great run on Saturday night and we lost a blower belt, but our car was going to run at 12 or 13. We were real confident going into Sunday. When you run low ET, top speed every single round and leave with the trophy, that’s about as dominant as it gets.”

RAIN POSTPONES 41ST ANNUAL NHRA SUPERNATIONALS FINALS TO MONDAY

Englishtown, NJ – June 13, 2010 – Once the semi-final rounds were complete this afternoon in Englishtown, rain halted on-track activity. NHRA officials postponed racing until Monday morning at 10am.

Bob Tasca III and the FordParts.com Shelby Mustang defeated some of the series best en route to his fifth appearance in the finals. Tasca defeated fellow Ford Mustang drivers Ashley Force Hood and John Force, as well as the Dodge Charger of Matt Hagan.

Tasca faces Del Worsham during the Funny Car final on Monday morning.

“This is one of the most dominating performances my team has ever had,” said Tasca. “Our Shelby Mustang ran low ET for all three rounds today and was the top speed in two of those rounds. As a driver/owner, I’m just so proud of Chris Cunningham, Marc Denner and the entire team for their efforts in implementing the BOSS 500 engine into our race car in a short period of time.”

Tasca and the team will return to the track on Monday morning to complete the task they started on Sunday – win at Englishtown.

“We will be ready to race tomorrow morning,” continued Tasca. “The track and weather conditions will be terrific, even better than what we ran in this afternoon. We faced a really hot and tricky race track, but our FordParts.com Shelby Mustang ran well. We didn’t have easy round wins today – Ashley, John and Matt – they are some of the top cars in the points. To go out and win against them is a tribute to the team and all their efforts.”

Tasca is confident that his FordParts.com team can carry the momentum, confidence and performance into Monday’s final round.

“We would have loved to run the final in succession today because everyone is on the same page,” said Tasca. “We have good data and know the track. To be a championship caliber program, you’ve got to be able to step up in situations like this. I’m very confident that my guys will be able to do that tomorrow morning.”

“Englishtown is a fun place for me to be, not just to race,” said Tasca. “I have a lot of family and friends here with me this weekend. This was also a terrific debut for the FordParts.com car this weekend. It was a great way to introduce a new brand and a new initiative within Ford Motor Company and to put the car in the final round is just a bonus.”

TASCA SPORTS SPECIAL BLUE AND WHITE COLORS OF FORDPARTS.COM AT HIS HOME TRACK THIS WEEKEND IN ENGLISHTOWN

DEARBORN, MI – June 8, 2010 – This weekend, Bob Tasca III’s Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car will shed its familiar red-and-white Motorcraft/Quick Lane paint scheme for Ford blue in conjunction with the public launch of the new FordParts.com website.

Not only will FordParts.com make its debut as a sponsor, but it will also be the first time Motorcraft/Quick Lane hasn’t appeared on Tasca’s Ford Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car in the three years he has been in the NHRA Funny Car Class. Tasca’s counterparts in NASCAR, Wood Brothers Racing and Bill Elliott, are also running the FordParts.com paint scheme on their No. 21 Ford Fusion at the Michigan NASCAR event this weekend.

“This will be the first time that I’ve had a race car that doesn’t have Motorcraft/Quick Lane on the side of it,” said Tasca. “I’m excited about running the FordParts.com Shelby Mustang this weekend. I’ve always wanted to drive a white and blue car because it is one of my favorite combinations. Hopefully we can do it justice and put it in the winner’s circle.”

FordParts.com allows repair shops, body shops, fleets, and do-it-yourselfers to shop online, order and receive Genuine Ford and Motorcraft parts through one site for Ford, Lincoln or Mercury vehicles. Once a part is ordered, consumers have the flexibility of choosing in-store pick-up or having the parts delivered to their home or shop.

“FordParts.com was designed for people to buy parts from the convenience of their home,” said Tasca. “Customers can now shop for Motorcraft parts in their pajamas. It’s a pretty cool initiative. The website is the place it’s going to be for the future. It’s a new way of doing business.”

Old Bridge Township Raceway Park holds a lot of history for Tasca and his family. Once the site where his grandfather would race and the place where he earned his first national event win, the track in Englishtown, New Jersey, holds a special significance for Tasca.

“Englishtown is my home track,” said Tasca. “I’m not superstitious, but I can’t dispute much about Englishtown. It’s the site of my first national event win and a place that has a lot of history, both for the sport of drag racing and my family. My grandfather raced there. It’s the first track that I ever went to and I can still remember sitting in the stands watching Bob Glidden and John Force make runs. Although I’ve had a short career so far in racing, it still holds a lot of significance. I grew up there; it’s in my backyard. There will be a lot of family and friends there and to debut the FordParts.com car it makes it really significant.”

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM QUALIFY FOURTH AT ROUTE 66 RACEWAY

Joliet, Ill. – June 5, 2010 – When the pressure is on, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing step up to the challenge.

After rain cancelled one of Friday’s qualifying sessions, Tasca and the team attacked the track late in the day. Tasca posted the fifth quickest time on Friday with a 4.552 second pass at 194.94 miles per hour.

Heading into the final qualifying session on Saturday, Tasca and the team were sitting in the 18th position and not qualified for Sunday’s 13th Annual United Association NHRA Nationals. Cool under pressure, Tasca catapulted from 18th to fourth with a 4.136 second run at 305.56 miles per hour. That run was the top speed of the day and second quickest ET of the session.

“We lost the first run yesterday because of the rain,” said Tasca. “During the second session we broke an input shaft, which normally causes pretty severe damage to the race car. We were lucky and didn’t have any damage to our Shelby Mustang. Then, in the final session, we went from 18th to fourth. I give all the credit to Chris Cunningham, Marc Denner and all the guys for their efforts. They definitely put our team in a position to win on Sunday.”

Despite difficult qualifying conditions, the combination of crew chiefs Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner, the dedication of the entire team and Tasca’s determination, the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team is solid and confident heading into Sunday’s eliminations.

“Chris, Marc and the guys – their timing was spot on because when we needed it, they put the right combination in the car and I did my job driving from A to B,” said Tasca. “All of us are very happy with that last run. I’m really proud of the guys.”

During the first round on Sunday, Tasca faces Paul Lee. This will be the first time Tasca faces Lee during eliminations.

“Our confidence level is high heading into Sunday’s eliminations,” said Tasca. “This is a sport that if you can qualify, you can win the race. It will be an exciting day. I feel confident that we’re going to go out and put on a good show for the fans.”

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM LOOK FOR A WIN IN THE WINDY CITY

DEARBORN, MI – June 2, 2010 – After having the holiday weekend off, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team are eager to get back to the race track for this weekend’s 13th Annual United Association NHRA Route 66 Nationals in Joliet, Ill. The team is ready to start the June stretch of races with a win in the Windy City.

“I’ve done very well at Joliet in my Top Alcohol car and we had a good effort there last year,” said Tasca. “We’re due for a win. Going into these events we’ve made changes in order to put our team in a position to win. It’s only a matter of time before we get our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang in the winner’s circle.”

After a disappointing 13th qualifying position in Topeka, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team look to put themselves in better position heading into Eliminations.

“Going to Joliet this weekend, our sights are set on getting qualified in the top five,” said Tasca. “That’s our goal going into every single race. You always shoot for the pole and hope to land somewhere in the top five to get lane choice. There are no easy rounds in NHRA racing, but starting in the top half of the field is where you want to be.”

During the Four-Wide Nationals in Charlotte, Ford Motor Company announced the ‘One Ford’ strategy among the Ford Racing Funny Car teams. Since then, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing crew have been working hard changing over to the Ford BOSS 500 engine program. In Chicago, they will complete that transition.

“On Monday, we’re going to test the last elements of the Ford BOSS 500 platform to complete our transition, “said Tasca. “We’re about 90 percent there, a few more components to go on the car and we’ll be 100 percent converted over coming out of the Chicago race.”

Quick Lane Racing Experience
