TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING EXIT DALLAS IN QUARTERFINALS; MAINTAIN FIFTH POSITION IN POINTS
ENNIS, TX – September 26, 2010 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team saw Dallas as an opportunity to continue their upward climb on the championship points ladder. An untimely exit in the quarterfinals prevented Tasca from a win and gaining valuable points as the season draws near a close.

Weather played havoc on the drivers, crew chiefs and fans all weekend in Dallas. Three different days of weather made tuning the 8,000-horsepower Funny Cars very difficult. From a hot and humid Friday, to a rainy Saturday, then overcast and gradually improving temperatures on Sunday, crew chiefs and drivers were experimenting with every available tuning combination.

Tasca posted his best qualifying run of the weekend with a 4.126-second pass at 302.89 miles per hour during Saturday’s third and final qualifying session. Once the session was completed, Tasca locked himself in the fourth spot heading into Sunday’s eliminations.

In Sunday’s first round of competition, Tasca’s 4.136-second pass at 301.87 miles per hour defeated Tony Pedregon’s 4.234-second run at 286.62 miles per hour. Pedregon had the better reaction time but Tasca powered his red and black Shelby Mustang and passed Pedregon by the 60-foot mark to capture the win.

“We needed the first round win over Tony to keep pace with point leaders,” said Tasca. “We had a vibration during that run and determined there wasn’t anything wrong with the engine. Our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang did what we wanted it to do in the first round and we’re looking to build on that win.”

In the quarterfinals, Tasca had the better reaction time against Del Worsham, but Worsham was able to pull ahead of Tasca by the 60-foot mark to claim the win. Tasca posted a 4.179-second pass at 301.40 miles per hour compared to Worsham’s 4.085-second run at 309.49 miles per hour.

“Something went wrong in the second session,” said Tasca. “We weren’t trying to go 4.17, we were trying to go quicker than what we did. Our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang has really responded to a lot of the changes that we made all season and for some reason it didn’t respond that time. That is not something we want to see on race day.”

Crew chiefs Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner anticipated better race conditions in Dallas and tuned the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang to perform at its best. Unfortunately, the ever-changing weather conditions altered the team’s plan of attack.

“We’ve been anticipating sun all day today and it just hasn’t caught up to us,” said Cunningham. “We prepared the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang for sun on the first run. We made some adjustments and were successful in the first round. Then we prepared for sun again in the second round and it never came out. Crew chiefs make calls before we know what the weather is going to be. The changes I made to compensate for hot weather didn’t correlate with the cold weather track, so we didn’t run as well as we wanted to run. If we had sun before [the second round], we would have raced in the semifinals and possibly the finals.”

Tasca leaves Dallas in the fifth position with three races remaining in the 2010 Countdown to 1.

“We’ll maintain fifth position but we lost a little ground on first place. We’ll look towards Reading and have a good weekend there. To keep our championship hopes alive, we need to go to the semifinals and finals.”

Matt Hagan won the 25th Annual O’Reilly Super Start Batteries NHRA Fall Nationals in Ennis, TX.

NHRA Full Throttle Drag Racing Series action resumes on October 8, for the Toyo Tires NHRA Nationals, in Reading, PA, the site of Tasca’s second career Funny Car win.

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING QUALIFY FOURTH AT DALLAS

ENNIS, TX – September 25, 2010 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team headed into Dallas with momentum from Charlotte and continued their success with solid qualifying efforts during two distinctly different days in Texas – a hot and humid Friday and a cool and rainy Saturday.

During the first qualifying session on Friday, with a track temperature of 141 degrees, Tasca posted the fifth quickest pass with a 4.644-second run at 216.03 miles per hour. In the evening session, Tasca dropped a cylinder but still improved on his time with a 4.200-second run at 289.45 miles per hour, placing him fifth overall heading into Saturday.

Rain interrupted the third and final qualifying session on Saturday. Several Funny Car pairs made qualifying runs before rain halted all on-track activity. After a lengthy rain delay the final group of Funny Cars took to the track, where the surface temperature of 88 degrees was more than 50 degrees cooler than Friday’s track temperature.

“We had to weather the storm, literally, because it rained pretty much all day,” said Tasca. “We were in the staging lanes when the rain started during the third session and we wanted to get back on track because we knew our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang was fast and could move up the ladder. Fortunately, the NHRA worked to get the track dry and we were able to get our last session in today.”

Once the rain cleared, the Funny Car category was the first group of competitors on the track. Tasca posted his best run of the weekend with a 4.126-second pass at 302.89 miles per hour and jumped up into the top half of the field. Once the session was completed, Tasca locked himself in the fourth spot heading into Sunday’s eliminations.

“We started the day off in the fifth position and were bumped down to eighth,” said Tasca. “During that final run of the day, we ran a 4.126 that put us in the fourth spot. Our goal heading into this weekend was to put ourselves in position to win the race. I can’t wait for tomorrow. It is going to be a cool day and conditions should be pretty much optimal like we just saw tonight. ”

Tasca will face Tony Pedregon in the first round of eliminations on Sunday. Tasca has raced Pedregon eight times and has six wins against his fellow 2010 NHRA Countdown to 1 championship contender.

“I’m matched up against my buddy Tony tomorrow morning. It will be a great race against Tony and a monster match-up with John [Force] and Robert [Hight] facing each other in the first round. Heading into this race, I said we needed to do well to be a front-runner for the championship and we’re on our way to doing that on Sunday.”

Tasca credits the 2010 success to crew chiefs Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner for their efforts in transitioning to the Ford BOSS 500 engine package mid-season.

“The big reason why we changed to the Ford BOSS 500 engine platform was to have a car that could compete when conditions were optimal,” said Tasca. “We’ve been working real hard on that tune-up and I think you saw some of it show itself here in the last run. Our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team, under the leadership of Chris, Marc and Tom [Leskovan], has done a flawless job here this weekend. Tomorrow the conditions will be a lot like what we just saw on Saturday. The data from that last run will be a big run for us to look at going into tomorrow.”

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING LOOK TO CLIMB THE COUNTDOWN LADDER IN DALLAS

DEARBORN, MI – September 22, 2010 – As the championship race draws closer, the pressure continues to rise for Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team.

After a semifinal appearance in Charlotte, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team were able to move up two spots in the points ladder from seventh to fifth. The team looks to carry that momentum and continue the climb this weekend in Dallas.

“We started the Countdown in the seventh position and we’ve moved into fifth after two races, so we’re on an upward climb,” said Tasca. “We’re going in the right direction, so we’re looking to build on the momentum that started in Charlotte. We’re not going to take Dallas lightly because we can’t afford a bad race. We’re in the fight, but to stay in this fight, we’ve got to go rounds.”

A fan of back-to-back races, Tasca heads to Dallas this weekend confident that the data they secured in Charlotte and similar track conditions will help the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team continue to gain ground in the points standings.

“When you go from one race to the next and the conditions are similar, I think everybody is on the same page,” said Tasca. “There will be a lot of similarities between Charlotte and Dallas since both tracks are all concrete. We have a great Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car. We made some great runs. We made some runs where we knew what went wrong, so we know what we need to do to improve. I feel pretty confident that we’ll improve in Dallas.”

Focused on putting his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car in a position to win, Tasca knows what it will take to keep the championship hopes alive this weekend. In the last two races, Tasca has decreased the gap among the leaders. Since the start of the Countdown, Tasca has moved to 85 points out of the lead. Heading into Dallas, Tasca is one win away from the second position in points.

“You need to win two out of the six races in order to win the championship and pick up a couple semifinals and final rounds,” said Tasca. “So far, we haven’t had any first round losses in the Countdown and we went to the semifinals in Charlotte. We need a win and that’s the next step. We need a win to get ourselves in that top three as we go into the final races of the season. We’re still in a position to contend for this championship.”

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING REACH SEMIFINALS IN CONCORD; JUMP TO FIFTH IN SERIES POINTS
CONCORD, NC – September 19, 2010 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team hoped to perform well in Concord this weekend for several reasons. In addition to calling Concord the home of Tasca Racing, this race marked the second of the Countdown to 1. Tasca entered the weekend sitting in the seventh points position. The goal for the weekend was to perform well, move up the ladder and one step closer to the 2010 NHRA Funny Car championship title.

Tasca started his weekend by qualifying in the third position with a 4.109 second run at 304.39 miles per hour. Following four qualifying sessions, Tasca locked himself in the third spot heading into Sunday’s eliminations. By order of the ladder, Tasca faced Bob Bode during the first round.

Tasca had the starting line advantage against Bode and never looked back. Tasca’s 4.221-second pass at 301.40 miles per hour defeated Bode’s 4.805-second pass at 242.89 miles per hour.

In the second round, Tasca faced fellow Ford Racing Mustang driver Ashley Force Hood. Tasca was first off the line and led the entire race against Force Hood. Tasca reached the finish line in 4.483 seconds at 250.78 miles per hour compared to Force Hood’s 5.314-second pass at 152.73 miles per hour.

“We had a valve spring retainer break in the second round,” said Tasca. “These fuel cars are rough on the parts and we try to stay ahead of the curve as much as we can. But things break and that’s just the way it is. We got lucky against Ashley. I hung on, I knew the motor was wounded but we made it through and got the win.”

During the semifinal match-up, Tasca raced against the Dodge of Jack Beckman. Tasca was in the less preferred left lane against Beckman. Tasca smoked the tires and was unable to catch Beckman at the finish line. Tasca’s Mustang posted a 4.949-second run at 160.86 miles per hour compared to Beckman’s 4.199-second run at 301.13 miles per hour.

“That left lane was suspect all day because it was a very difficult lane to go down,” said Tasca. “We pushed a little harder than what the track could handle and it smoked the tires.”

Despite the semifinal loss, Tasca was pleased with the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team’s performance. Tasca moved into fifth in points standings with four races remaining in the 2010 Countdown to 1, just 85 points out of first place.

“It was a great day for our team because we did exactly what we needed to do and that was move up in the points,” said Tasca. “There’s a lot of racing left this season with four races and more than 400 points on the table. We’re in a place right now to win a championship and we’ve got a hot rod that certainly has the performance to do that. The pressure was on this weekend and will be on again next weekend in Dallas. I’m confident that we’ll carry some momentum into Dallas.”

Cruz Pedregon won Sunday’s Third Annual O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA Nationals in Concord, NC.

The third race in the Countdown to 1 takes place next weekend, September 24-26, at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX.

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE QUALIFY THIRD FOR SUNDAY’S NHRA NATIONALS IN CONCORD; BEST QUALIFYING EFFORT OF 2010 SEASON
CONCORD, NC – September 18, 2010 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team entered the Charlotte race looking to perform well, move up the points standings and closer to the 2010 NHRA Full Throttle Funny Car Championship. Tasca and the team leave the track on Saturday evening confident that they’ve prepared themselves to walk away on Sunday with a victory.

After completing four qualifying sessions, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team sit in the third qualifying position. This effort marks their best starting position of the 2010 season and the 15th time this season the team has qualified on the top half of the ladder.

Tasca’s best qualifying pass of the weekend took place during Friday’s night session where he raced his red and black Shelby Mustang to third on the timing sheet with a 4.109 second run at 304.39 miles per hour. Tasca earned one additional point for posting the third quickest ET of the session.

“Our weekend started out pretty good with the 4.10 second run on Friday night,” said Tasca. “We came out this morning and tried to really push the envelope in the third qualifying session and smoked the tires. But in the last session we wanted to go A-to-B and get some good data for race day. We ran a 4.17 which certainly puts us in a competitive place going into tomorrow. It is going to be hot with very similar conditions to what we saw today, so we have a really good baseline. We’re looking forward to racing on Sunday.”

During the first elimination round on Sunday, Tasca faces 14th qualifier Bob Bode. The last time the pair met was during the quarterfinals at Brainerd where Bode defeated Tasca.

“I’ve raced against Bob Bode a few times and the last time I raced him I didn’t like the result,” said Tasca. “I think it is my time to reach the finish line first against Bode since he defeated us in the second round at Brainerd.”

Charlotte is the second of six races in the 2010 Countdown to 1. Tasca’s goals for the weekend included qualifying in the top half of the field, racing to the final and winning a Wally at the team’s home track.

“Charlotte is a race where we need to perform well at to keep our championship hopes alive,” said Tasca. “We qualified strong and we’re ready for tomorrow. We put ourselves in a position to win the race this weekend. It’s going to be exciting. This is a race that I said we have to do well at and we’ve set ourselves up to do that on Sunday.”

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING LOOK FOR COUNTDOWN WIN IN CONCORD; HOME TRACK OF TASCA RACING

DEARBORN, MI – September 15, 2010 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team have, for some time, circled the third week of September on the calendar, marking their return to the team’s home race track.

Tasca Racing, located just minutes from zMAX Dragway, is the headquarters of the third year Funny Car team. Each member of Tasca Racing calls the Charlotte area home. This weekend, Tasca and the entire team look forward to racing at one of the premier tracks on the NHRA schedule.
“For my team, Charlotte is our home track,” said Tasca. “There will be a lot of friends and family from the team in the area that come out to the race this weekend and we want to do well. We’ve made it past the first round in both fall races. Charlotte is a premier facility, it’s in our backyard and it’s the second race in the Countdown. This is a very important race for the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team to perform well at and win.”

Immediately following the spring race at zMAX Dragway, Tasca and the team transitioned to the Ford BOSS 500 engine platform. Tasca looks to use that engine package and change his luck at zMAX. Tasca has a 1-3 round record at zMAX but with the combination of more experience and the Ford BOSS 500 engine, Tasca is confident his performance and Charlotte stats will change this weekend. Tasca even has some momentum on his side going into qualifying -- he has an average qualifying position of seventh during the 2010 season.

“We believe we have the powertrain in our Shelby Mustang right now that has won 14-plus championships and counting,” said Tasca. “We really believe in this Ford set-up. That being said, however, we’re going back to a very different Charlotte. During the spring race the weather was cooler and ETs were quicker. We have enough data to prepare for these hot conditions, but it will be a different Charlotte race surface versus the Charlotte we left. Our confidence level is a whole world ahead of where we were in March, with just making the transition over to the Ford BOSS 500 engine. We have our sights set on winning the race this weekend.”

Tasca remained in the seventh position after the Countdown kick-off race in Indianapolis. To stay focused during the Countdown to 1, Tasca and the team prepare for each run down the track with the same meticulousness as every other run. The team is taking this playoff season one run at a time, knowing that the fine details and consistent performance will yield round and race wins.

“You have 10 Funny Cars that could win the championship,” said Tasca. “There are 16 Funny Cars that can roll into any race at any time and win a race. It’s a very competitive class. It’s a very exciting class, both as a fan and a driver. In order to maximize your chances to win the 2010 Championship, I think you have to win two out of the five final races. To win, we’re focused on minimizing our first round losses and maximizing our time in the semifinals and finals. If we reach the semifinals, finals and win races, we will be in the thick of the championship hunt going into Las Vegas and Pomona.”

Five Finalists Announced in Ford Customer Service Division's NASCAR Design Contest to Support Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation

FIVE FINALISTS ANNOUNCED IN FORD CUSTOMER SERVICE DIVISION’S NASCAR DESIGN CONTEST TO SUPPORT JUVENILE DIABETES RESEARCH FOUNDATION

DEARBORN, Mich., September 10, 2010 – Five finalists have been chosen from the 60 designs submitted this summer by JDRF children with type 1 diabetes, as part of a charity contest to design the paint scheme for the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion driven by Bill Elliott.

On-line voting ended on Friday, September 3, and the top five donation-earning designs are in front of a panel of Ford and Wood Brothers Racing judges for final selection. The winning design will be featured on No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion during the Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on October 14-16.

“All of the designs this year were very well done and any of the top five designs will look great on the No. 21 Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Fusion. We have a tough decision in front of us,” said Brett Wheatley, Director of Marketing, Ford Customer Service Division. “The goal of the NASCAR Design Contest was to help raise awareness for JDRF. We accomplished our goal because our generous race fans donated more than $30,000 to support a worthy cause.”

The winning designer will be invited to the Bank of America 500 in Concord, NC, with his or her parents for an official unveiling of their paint scheme, spend time with the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team and see their design run during at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

For the past two years JDRF children have helped design the paint scheme featured on the NHRA Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car, driven by Bob Tasca III. This year, in honor of the Wood Brothers celebrating 60 years of racing Ford products in NASCAR, FCSD has decided to bring the successful contest over to the legendary race team.
This year’s NASCAR Design contest raised $33,391, and in three years, the FCSD efforts have raised more than $157,000 for JDRF.

Top Five Designers
Liam Flanagan, age 8, raised $7,186, Eastern Pennsylvania Chapter

Carson Luther, age 8, raised $5,341, St. Louis Chapter

James Krist, age 11, raised $4,035, Omaha-Council Bluffs Chapter

Peyton Polivick, age 9, raised $4,029, Kentuckiana Chapter

Irene Mallano, age 8, raised $3,342, New York Chapter

About Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)
JDRF is the leading charitable funder and advocate of type 1 (juvenile) diabetes research worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research. Type 1 diabetes is a disease, which strikes children suddenly and requires multiple injections of insulin daily or a continuous infusion of insulin through a pump. Insulin, however, is not a cure for diabetes, nor does it prevent its eventual and devastating complications, which may include kidney failure, blindness, heart disease, stroke, and amputation.

Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.3 billion to diabetes research, including more than $156 million in FY2008. In FY2008, the Foundation funded 1,000 centers, grants and fellowships in 22 countries.http://www.jdrf.org/

Diabetes affects more Ford families than any other disease. Ford Motor Company has raised more than $27 million for JDRF since the grassroots campaign started in 1998.

Tasca Ford to Host 13th Annual Mustang & Live Music Event on Saturday, September 11

CRANSTON, RI – September 9, 2010 – Three-time NHRA Funny Car winner Bob Tasca III has been a Mustang driver all his life. Tasca grew up in his family-owned Ford dealership and has earned the moniker of the ‘All-Ford kid that drives the all-Ford hot rod.’ Tasca’s passion for Fords and Mustangs comes from his grandfather, who first showed Tasca the pony car many years ago.

Continuing his grandfather’s legacy, the driver of the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang Nitro Funny Car and Vice President of Tasca Automotive Group in Rhode Island, Tasca, is hosting the 13th Annual Mustang and Live Music Event on Saturday, September 11 from 10am to 4pm at the Tasca Automotive Group in Cranston, RI.

“This is hard to believe, but we’ve done this annual Mustang show and food drive at the dealership for that past 13 years,” said Tasca. “Ford was my grandfather’s passion and we’re doing our best to carry on the tradition my grandfather started many years ago. This will be a bittersweet year because this is the first show we’ve done without my grandfather. I know he will be looking down on us, smiling and proud that we are continuing this Tasca tradition.”

Over the past 13 years, the event has grown in both display vehicles and attendance. In addition to the Mustang car show, Tasca has invited some of his fellow Ford Racing family members to participate in the day’s activities. Special guests at this year’s show include the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team, 14-time NHRA Funny Car Champion John Force, three-time 2010 race winner Tim Wilkerson, up-and-coming driver Daniel Wilkerson, NHRA emcee Alan Reinhart and three generations of the Tasca family.

Admission to the 13th Annual Mustang & Live Music Event is two non-perishable food items, which will be donated to the Rhode Island Food bank. In previous years, the show has donated more than 10,000 pounds of food to the local food bank.

“This is a real treat not only for us, but the people of Rhode Island,” said Tasca. “The entire Motorcraft/Quick Lane team is coming and we’ll fire-up our Shelby Mustang and let the show attendees experience the sights, sounds and smells of a Nitro Funny Car. It’s fun for me to bring our Shelby Mustang Funny Car to Rhode Island, to my hometown and at the same time help such a worthwhile cost with the Rhode Island Food Bank.”

BOB TASCA III AND FORDPARTS.COM EXIT INDIANAPOLIS IN SECOND ROUND; MAINTAIN SEVENTH POSITION IN CHAMPIONSHIP STANDINGS

CLERMONT, IN – September 6, 2010 – Bob Tasca III and the FordParts.com Shelby Mustang team brought confidence with them to Indianapolis and looked to start the 2010 playoff season with a win. Unfortunately a second round loss prevented Tasca from bringing home an Indianapolis victory.

After suffering from bent push rods and smoking the tires during the first two qualifying sessions, Tasca used the optimal conditions of Saturday’s cool temperatures and drove his FordParts.com Shelby Mustang to a 4.086 second run at 306.33 miles per hour.

After the five qualifying sessions were complete, Tasca was locked into the eighth qualifying position. Tasca’s Indianapolis qualifying effort marks the 14th time of the 2010 season that he qualified in the top half of field.

Tasca faced Jim Head during Sunday’s first elimination round. Head had a quicker reaction time, but Tasca would pass Head and reach the finish line first. Tasca posted his second best time of the weekend with a 4.095 second run at 304.87 miles per hour compared to Head’s 4.233 second run at 267.80 miles per hour.

“We had a big win against Head in the first round,” said Tasca. “To compete and be a contender in the Countdown, you need to minimize first round losses and we did that today.”

In the second round, Tasca faced Indy top qualifier Matt Hagan. The pair had nearly identical reaction times but Hagan steadily pulled ahead of Tasca to win. Hagan posted a 4.119 second run at 291.13 miles per hour to Tasca’s 4.197 second run at 205.08 mile per hour.

“We’re disappointed we didn’t make it further at Indianapolis,” said Tasca. “We were trying to back up our 4.09 from the first round. The car made a real violent move toward the wall and I had my hands full trying to get the Shelby Mustang back to the center.”

Crew chiefs Chris Cunningham, Marc Denner and the FordParts.com team diagnosed the second round loss as a result of the blower being down on boost.

“If our Mustang runs what we want it to run and we lose, then you tip your hat to the guy next to you,” said Tasca. “But when we’re trying to run a 4.10, and our car runs 4.19, then something happened with the application of our set-up.”

Despite the second round loss, Tasca knows the team has time to move up the standings in the final five races. Tasca looks to pick up a few round wins at the next event in Charlotte.

“We’re comfortable racing at Charlotte and expect it to be a hot weather track,” said Tasca. “There’s still plenty of time left [in the Countdown], we’ll evaluate the runs and look forward. We’ll stay in the seventh spot going into Charlotte, so we’re still in a good position. There is a lot of racing to go and a lot of points up for grabs in the coming weeks.”

Ashley Force Hood won Monday’s MacTools US Nationals at O’Reilly Raceway Park. This was Force Hood’s first win of the 2010 season.

“Congratulations to Ashley and her team; it’s great to see a Ford win Indy,” said Tasca. “At the end of these six races, I hope I’m the Ford that wins the championship. This is all about Ford; it’s about winning – ‘Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday’ and in this case a Ford won on Monday and we’re selling on Tuesday.”

Racing resumes on Friday, September 17, for the O’Reilly Nationals at zMAX Dragway in Concord, North Carolina, for the O’Reilly Nationals.

FORDPARTS.COM RETURNS AS PRIMARY SPONSOR AS TASCA LOOKS TO KICK OFF 2010 COUNTDOWN WITH WIN AT INDIANAPOLIS

DEARBORN, MI – September 1, 2010 – Earlier this summer, Bob Tasca III found on-track success when he switched to the blue and white colors of the online retailer FordParts.com and won the 41st Annual NHRA SuperNationals at Englishtown.

Now, heading into the biggest event of the season and the kickoff to the Countdown to 1 playoffs, Tasca and the FordParts.com team look to duplicate the success from Englishtown and apply it to Indianapolis.

“Indianapolis is already the biggest race of the year for NHRA, and it takes on a whole new meaning when it’s the first race of the Countdown,” said Tasca. “We want to come out of the box strong, get this Countdown started off right, and win.”

Success at Indianapolis is not new to Tasca. In 2006 and 2007, while piloting an Alcohol Funny Car, Tasca earned two runner-up finishes at the historical track.

“Indianapolis is such a prestigious race,” said Tasca. “I love racing at Indianapolis; it’s just a great atmosphere, a great place to race. There is so much history at Indianapolis and I’m looking to be a part of it. We made it to the finals before in the Alcohol Funny Car and I think we can take our FordParts.com all the way to the finals again this weekend.”

FordParts.com returns to Tasca’s racing machine this weekend as primary sponsor, replacing the familiar black-and-red of Motorcraft. Tasca first donned the blue and white paint scheme at Englishtown as part of the nationwide launch of the on-line website, and went on to earn his third career win.

“I’m really excited to keep pace, and I’m not a superstitious person, but I may become one if we win again,” said Tasca. “We tested in Chicago and debuted the FordParts.com car the following week in Englishtown and won. We tested last week in Indy and we’re bringing the FordParts.com Shelby Mustang back out. If we can get that same magic that rubbed off in Englishtown in Indianapolis, they may have to arm wrestle me to take the body back off my Mustang. It will be fun to have the blue and white car out and show it off in Indianapolis. Hopefully, it brings us the same success it did in Englishtown.”

As the 2010 season slowly draws to an end, Tasca analyzes each race on its own merit. He, along with crew chiefs Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner, know that every point matters going forward. Sitting just 70 points back from the leader as the playoffs begin, the FordParts.com team will review data from the season and continue to build on the strides they’ve made to date.

“You fight all year, and it really is a battle to get into the top 10 by the end of the regular season,” said Tasca. “You want to put yourself in a position to win, to be solidly in the top 10, which we were very fortunate to do, but now that’s over. Now we’re looking forward. The Countdown makes the final races a 10-car shootout for a championship, so we’re truly taking this one round at a time. You’ve got to look specifically at each round… each qualifying round, and each elimination round. We’re going into these final six races taking them one round at a time.”

Last week, Tasca tested at Indianapolis and posted the quickest ET of the two-day test session. Tasca’s best time of the test session was a 4.077 second run at 309.84 miles per hour. With the solid test session under their belt, Tasca and the team are confident in the Shelby Mustang this weekend.

“We’ve established a tremendous hot weather tune-up over the last couple years and we are refining the Ford BOSS 500 set-up,” said Tasca. “To have a race car coming off this test session where we ran low ET in optimal conditions, we are very confident heading into the Indianapolis weekend.”
