TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM REACH SECOND ROUND AT TOPEKA; GAIN ONE POSITION IN SERIES STANDINGS

TOPEKA, KS – May 23, 2010 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team hoped to make another appearance in the semi-finals for the third consecutive race. Unfortunately, that goal was dashed in the second round.

After several months of continuous improvement, the team was confident heading into this weekend event at Heartland Park Topeka.

Tasca qualified in the 13th position with a best pass of 4.256 seconds at 294.05 miles an hour. In his Mustang, Tasca would face Jack Beckman and his Dodge Charger during Sunday’s first elimination round.

“We struggled on the tune-up because the track conditions were not what we normally see in Topeka,” said Tasca. “The track had tremendous traction and bite, so unfortunately we were a little behind on Friday and Saturday. Chris [Cunningham], Marc [Denner] and the guys were pretty pumped on Saturday night because we found a combination to make our Mustang run well on Sunday.”

During Sunday’s first round, Tasca took the lead at the click of the green and never trailed in his race against Beckman. Tasca’s 4.150 second pass at 305.22 miles per hour defeated Beckman’s 4.173 second pass at 302.10 miles per hour. Tasca’s margin of victory was 0.0440 seconds, approximately 19 feet.

“We ran a 4.15 and beat Beckman,” said Tasca. “That was a big first round win for us.”

In the second round pairing, Tasca faced Ron Capps. Tasca was the first of the line, but Capps took the lead by the tree and reached the finish line in 4.126 seconds at 298.40 miles per hour. Tasca ran a 4.184 second pass at 304.53 miles per hour and missed the semi-final round by 0.0488 seconds, approximately 22 feet.

“The track got hotter in the second round and we pulled back the tune-up a bit because we thought we could have smoked the tires,” said Tasca. “Even though the track was hotter, it really didn’t lose much traction and the motor got away from it. Capps ran low ET of the round, so he would have beat everybody in that session. Unfortunately, we ran the wrong guy in the second round.”

Despite the second round loss, Tasca improved one position in the standings and now sits seventh overall.

“I’m proud of my guys and that we moved from eighth to seventh in points,” said Tasca. “We’ve had a great couple of weeks – testing, back-to-back semi-finals and a big first round win against Beckman. We’ll move on to Chicago and look to go a few more rounds there.”

Robert Hight, Ford Mustang, won Sunday’s 22nd Annual O’Reilly Summer Nationals at Topeka, Kansas.

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM READY TO BRING ON THE HEAT AT O’REILLY NHRA SUMMER NATIONALS

DEARBORN, MI – May 19, 2010 – As the weather heats up, so does the competition. Coming off back-to-back, semi-final appearances in St. Louis and Atlanta, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team look to turn up the heat in Topeka this weekend at the O’Reilly NHRA Summer Nationals.

“Topeka is a hot track and will be very similar to what we saw in Atlanta,” said Tasca. “We’ve proven that our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang can be lethal on a hot track in the past and I’m confident that this weekend will be no different.”

With a knack for the warm weather tune-up, crew chief Chris Cunningham is confident that as the temperatures continue to rise, the competition can expect the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang to be more consistent and gain some ground in the point standings.

“Our Mustang has always performed well in the heat,” said Cunningham. “We like racing in the hot conditions and since we’re heading into the summer months, we’re hitting our stride at the right time.”

Tasca moved up two positions in points after Atlanta. Now eighth overall, Tasca hopes to keep the momentum going as the weather gets warmer and the cutoff for the Countdown to 1 gets closer.

“Our momentum keeps building,” said Tasca. “It started in Las Vegas and our Mustang started to come around during the test, then back-to-back semi-finals in St. Louis and Atlanta. When we get rolling – we really get rolling. That’s what is important – to gather points, stay solidly in the top-10 and give yourself a chance when the season rolls along. I’m looking forward to keeping that momentum rolling into Topeka.”

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM REACH SEMI-FINALS AT ATLANTA; IMPROVE TWO POSITIONS IN POINTS

Commerce, GA, May 16, 2010 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang were eager to attack the Atlanta Dragway on Sunday morning. As making continuous improvement during the four qualifying sessions, Tasca and the team proved to be one of the strongest Funny Cars of the day. Unfortunately, Tasca’s day ended earlier than he expected.

In the first round, Tasca defeated Jeff Arend with a 4.189 second run at 299.40 miles per hour compared to Arend’s 4.874 second run at 177.91 miles per hour – the second fastest ET of the round. Tasca would have lane choice over quarterfinal opponent Tony Pedregon.

During the second round pairing, Pedregon was first off the line, but Tasca’s BOSS 500 powered Shelby Mustang took over the lead by the timing tree and never looked back. Tasca defeated Pedregon with his 4.194 second pass at 296.31 miles per hour compared to Pedregon’s 4.411 second pass at 251.11 miles per hour. Tasca posted the second quickest ET of the quarterfinal round.

Tasca reached the semi-finals for the fifth time, and advanced to consecutive semi-finals for the first time (St. Louis and Atlanta, 2010) in his career.

Tasca had lane choice over Ashley Force Hood in the semi-final round and selected the left lane, which was the same lane where he earned his first two round wins of the day. Tasca raced his Mustang to the finish line in 4.232 seconds at 295.01 miles per hour. Force Hood was first off the line and defeated Tasca on a hole shot, reaching the finish line in 4.241 seconds at 294.05 miles per hour. Her margin of victory was 0.088 seconds, approximately four feet.

“It was a great weekend for our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang team,” said Tasca. “You never like to lose on a hole shot, but we’ll learn from it and move on to the next race. Our Mustang went down the race track six out of seven times and when you have a race car that is as consistent as that, you’re going to win rounds and races.”

Fellow Ford Mustang driver Robert Hight won Sunday’s 30th Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals.

TASCA TO START FOURTH IN SUNDAY’S NHRA EVENT AT ATLANTA DRAGWAY; TIES BEST QUALIFYING EFFORT OF 2010 SEASON

Commerce, GA, May 15, 2010 – During the hottest and most humid qualifying session of the day, Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang flexed their muscles and showed the competition and fans at Atlanta Dragway that they are determined to excel on Sunday and capture their third career win.

Continuous improvement was Tasca’s mantra for the weekend. In his opening pass, Tasca drove his black and red machine to the fourth quickest run of the session with a 4.230 second pass at 291.82mph. Later on Friday, Tasca improved his time with a 4.167 second pass at 299.06mph.

During Saturday’s early qualifying session, Tasca wowed the field with the quickest run of the round when he took his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang down the track in 4.151 seconds at 299.73mph.

“It was another successful day for our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team,” said Tasca. “We went out in the third session, in the heat of the day, and posted the fastest time of the session. That was a massive run under the track and weather conditions. Then in the last session, we smoked the tires, but truthfully, that didn’t surprise us because you have to try to find the other side - too aggressive - so on Sunday, you know where not to go.”

As the fourth seed, Tasca will face Jeff Arend in the first round on Sunday. Tasca has one round win against Arend, which came at Englishtown in 2009.

“The entire Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team is ready for Sunday,” said Tasca. “Jeff Arend and his team are great competitors. When we get to the line on Sunday, we need to run as quick as we think we can, based on the conditions that are in front of us. It’s about doing what we know how to do and running a number that will make us happy.”

The hot and humid conditions posed problems for some teams, but crew chiefs Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner tuned the Shelby Mustang to make three solid qualifying passes in preparation for Sunday’s eliminations.

“When the conditions are hot like these past two days, it poses challenges for the crew chiefs and drivers,” said Tasca. “I’m sure there will be a lot of runs where the driver will have to pedal to get the car to go A-to-B, but it’s about getting a handle on the track and race car. We have a handle on both and we’re looking forward to going rounds on Sunday.”

Qualifying Order
1. Ashley Force Hood; 2. Robert Hight; 3. Ron Capps; 4. Bob Tasca III; 5. Del Worsham; 6. Jack Beckman; 7. Tim Wilkerson; 8. Bob Bode; 9. John Force; 10. Cruz Pedregon; 11. Matt Hagan; 12. Tony Pedregon; 13. Jeff Arend; 14. Jim Head; 15. Melanie Troxel; 16. Jeff Diehl

TASCA AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE RACING TEAM CARRYING MOMENTUM FROM ST. LOUIS TO ATLANTA

DEARBORN, MI – May 11, 2010 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team head into Atlanta this weekend for the 30th Annual Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Southern Nationals with some momentum and added confidence on their side.

Coming off a semi-finals appearance in St. Louis, Tasca is more confident than ever that he can take his Motorcraft/Quick Lane Ford Shelby Mustang Funny Car into the Winner’s Circle at Atlanta Dragway.

“We have great momentum coming off St. Louis,” said Tasca. “Chris Cunningham, Marc Denner and the guys are doing just a tremendous job getting their arms around this BOSS 500 engine platform. We are confident more than ever now that we can roll into this race and win, and that’s exactly what we’re focused on doing.”

This year the NHRA Southern Nationals have been moved a month later in the season which will change the track conditions for this weekend’s race. Although the track might be hotter than normal, Tasca and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team are ready to take on the challenge.

“What’s going to make this race different is the weather,” said Tasca. “If it’s hotter, it will make the conditions more challenging to go up and down the race track. We faced challenging conditions in Las Vegas and St. Louis but we also made great strides at those last two races. I feel very confident that no matter what the temperature is we’re going to be one of the cars to beat in Atlanta.”

During the off week, Tasca spent time in Detroit for the 2010 Ford Dealer Intro Show at Belle Isle where he spoke with other Ford Dealers on the success of Ford Motor Company, and viewed some of the new products Ford is launching.

“I had a great week in Detroit. All of the dealers got together to come out here and kind of reflect on the successes of Ford, where Ford is today and where we’re heading as a dealer body and as a company. I’ve never seen such a sense of laser focus on keeping the promise that the Ford Oval stands for and that’s to build the world’s greatest cars and trucks and SUVs. What I’ve seen out here has just reaffirmed that the future of Ford is bright.”

BOB TASCA III AND MOTORCRAFT/QUICK LANE FORD SHELBY MUSTANG TEAM REACH SEMI-FINALS IN ST. LOUIS

Madison, IL, May 2, 2010 – Bob Tasca III and the Motorcraft/Quick Lane Racing team headed in St. Louis confident in their Shelby Mustang Funny Car. After strong and consistent test sessions in Las Vegas, the team was ready to win rounds in St. Louis.

Tasca’s best qualifying effort was on Saturday afternoon when he posted a solid 4.260-second pass with a top speed of 281.83 miles per hour. Tasca qualified in the top half of the field in the seventh position. Tasca would have lane choice over Cruz Pedregon during Sunday’s first round eliminations.

“It was an exciting weekend for us,” said Tasca. “We had a wild ride on Saturday and I pedaled our Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang. Chris [Cunningham], Marc [Denner], the crew and I knew the track would be tricky on Sunday, so we worked hard to make sure everything was right for the elimination rounds. We made a big move up the qualifying ladder on Saturday and were prepared for some tough competition against Cruz in the first round.”

In the first round, Tasca looked to earn his first round win against two-time champ Cruz Pedregon. Tasca defeated Pedregon with a solid pass. Tasca’s Mustang reached the finish line in 4.202 seconds at 295.85 miles per hour compared to Pedregon’s 4.327-second pass at 282.01 miles per hour.

During the second round pairings, Tasca faced fellow Ford Mustang racer Ashley Force Hood. Tasca was first off the line and led wire-to-wire against Force Hood. Tasca’s Mustang ran a 4.218-second pass at 293.57 miles per hour versus Force Hood’s 4.222-second pass at 294.63 miles per hour.

“We had a big win against Cruz and then faced another strong competitor, Ashley Force Hood, in the second round,” said Tasca. “The Force camp has been strong this year and we knew that second round was going to be tough. We were real pleased with how our Shelby Mustang ran to get that round win and into the semi-finals.”

In his third semi-final appearance of the 2010 season, Tasca would face the Jack Beckman. For the first time of the day, Tasca was not the first off the line, but took the lead against Beckman shortly after the tree and led until half-track. Beckman’s Dodge Charger would reach the finish line first and advance to the finals. Tasca’s Mustang ran a 4.224-second pass at 291. 76 miles per hour compared to Beckman’s 4.215-second pass at 297.29 miles per hour.

“Obviously, we would have preferred to get the win, but to make it to the semi-finals and lose by inches to Jack Beckman is a good feeling,” said Tasca. “Too bad we have to wait until Atlanta to get back to the race track. We’ve got a team and Motorcraft/Quick Lane Shelby Mustang that is running consistent and we can’t wait to Atlanta and go a few more rounds.

Tasca sees the big picture of the 2010 season. Tasca and the entire team are attacking each weekend one run at a time. After seven races into the season, Tasca is 10th in overall points.

“At this time of year, it is all about going rounds,” said Tasca. “We need to keep going rounds, moving up in the points and staying solidly in that top-10. When you’ve got a Mustang that is running as good as ours is running, it was only a matter of time where we would turn the corner and win rounds again. We’ve lost some really tight races in the last few weeks. Heading into this weekend, I felt that St. Louis was a race where we needed to turn a corner and we did.”

Robert Hight won the 14th Annual AAA Insurance NHRA Midwest Nationals.

“Congratulations to Robert Hight and his entire team. It is exciting for me to be under the Ford umbrella with the Force teams and leverage the Ford engineering and technology,” said Tasca. “It is great to see Robert in his AAA Mustang win the AAA-sponsored race.”
